Jersey City NAACP Pres. Braker appears ‘Piss Drunk’ at Crown Fried Chicken exiting car
Jersey City NAACP President William C. Braker appeared to be “piss drunk” exiting his car at Crown Fried Chicken on Communipaw Ave. around 10:30 PM last night, February 27, 2016.
Video footage obtained by Real Jersey City from around 10:30 PM last night, February 27, 2016, at Crown Fried Chicken on Communipaw Ave., appears to show Jersey City NAACP President William C. Braker in a drunken state struggling to exit his vehicle, urinating in public, and then stumbling until he needed to be picked up off the ground by other patrons.
The incident is not the first embarrassing moment caught on tape for Braker during his tenure as local NAACP leader, now serving his second term.
On June 25, 2014, Braker was verbally berated by Tyrone Muhammed, of Morticians That Care, and denied a microphone to speak. On July 29, 2014, during a heated discussion over foot patrols with Councilwoman Joyce Watterman, Braker was once again denied the microphone, and said “the citizens have no ability” to review public safety matters.
As reported by the New York Times, Braker, a disgraced ex-Hudson County freeholder, as well as a former lieutenant and deputy director of the Jersey City Police Department (JCPD), was charged in 2002 by then-U.S. Attorney Chris Christie for extorting bribes from a psychiatrist who was seeking contracts with both the county and JCPD.
Of note, Braker infamously said that he needed ”Cash and Viagra” during a 2000 meeting when the doctor asked how he could help him. He was eventually sentenced to 41 months in federal prison.
Recently, Braker was seen expressing his support for Jersey City Schools Superintendent Dr. Marcia Lyles at a Board of Education meeting. As well, Braker is considered to be an ally of Mayor Steven Fulop.
A spokesperson for the Jersey City NAACP did not immediately return messages seeking comment on this story.
